US experts: â€œThe conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is a challenge to the regionâ€™s stabilityâ€

He said that the thought and the image of Turkey that Armenians want to spread to the world are wrong. According to him, the 1915 events are widely discussed in Turkey, as this is a very much changed society nowadays and everything is discussed there â€“ â€œthere are no taboosâ€.

Cagaptay said there is a great debate on the Armenian issue in Turkey.

In his turn Mr. Michael Werz, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, said that the tensions in the region are quite fierce already, and stabilizing the Turkish-Armenian situation would help a lot.
The experts said that Turkey is an important peacekeeper in the region and a great partner for the US.

They also pointed out that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is a challenge to the regionâ€™s stability. In that regards, the conflict should be solved as soon as possible, and the US as well as other OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs should help.
