Ali Hasanov: We hope the process of approximation of the positions of Azerbaijan and Armenia will continue

We consider that the recent meetings in various formats, including Astrakhan meeting also attended by Russian President are giving hopes for the following processes. Azerbaijani President said that he will suspend the meetings if he feels that the meetings are not able to produce effective results,â€ chief of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov said while commenting on the statement of CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev, APA reports.

â€œWe hope the process approximation of the positions will continue. Finally, Armenians will demonstrate constructive position, Nagorno Karabakh problem will be solved basing on the norms of the international law and mutual concessions,â€ Ali Hasanov said.

Sergei Lebedev said that agreement on exchange of prisoners of war and bodies reached at the Astrakhan meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents mediated by Russian President is the first step towards the approximation of the positions.
â€œThese are small steps, but we are doing our best to take other measures. Now we are discussing the release of the occupied territories, establishment of the corridor between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia,â€ he said.
