Azerbaijan’s capital hosts meeting on agreement on cooperation in Caspian security sphere

Baku meeting is the 4th conference devoted to this issue. The meeting is held at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states.

Deputy FM of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov noted that some items of draft agreement on Caspian security have been agreed during the recent meetings. And the last meeting has achieved a new progress.

To him, other uncoordinated issues will be discussed at the meeting.

Khalafov said that draft would be accepted here as a result of the current meeting and that draft would be submitted to summit of heads of Caspian littoral states to be held in Baku on November 18.

He also said that the meeting was held at constructiveness, high confidence and cooperation level: “I am sure that the agreement to be achieved will be a good basis for enhancing of cooperation in maintaining security in the Caspian”.

Note that, terrorism, organized crime, sale of drugs, illegal migration, human trafficking, contrabandage, traffic in arms and other issues have been reflected in the draft agreement.

Remind that, meeting of working group connected with legal status of the Caspian Sea will be held in Iran’s capital on November 10.
