Cankorel met with the representatives of Women’s Media Watch Azerbaijan Female Journalist Union on Thursday, APA reports. The diplomat said he hoped the document would be first step toward forming of atmosphere of mutual trust. “Everyone wants and expects progress to be reached at the OSCE summit in Astana”.

Speaking about the pre-election situation, Ali Bilge Cankorel said he supported the OSCE observation mission’s report. “We are expecting that there will not be any registration problem in these elections and parties will take active part. It will be useful to review the system again”. The ambassador reminded that registration was simplified during the municipal elections and said they supposed this process would be simplified more in these elections.

The ambassador said there were election campaign posters in relevant places, but no pro-government, nor opposition parties organize large meetings. He said he didn’t see electoral excitement in the country. “I see Azerbaijan as a country having a leader’s potential, therefore we have more expectations”.
