Baku hosts Azerbaijan-Russia round table â€œRole of the parliament in the development of civil societyâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. An Azerbaijan-Russia round table on the â€œRole of the parliament in the development of civil societyâ€ was organized by the Eurasian Research Institute Development Fund in Baku on Thursday. According to APA, addressing the event, chief of the public policy department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov reminded that relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are in the level of strategic partnership. Ali Hasanov pointed out the importance of the inter-parliamentary relationship and said along with the relations between the governmental organizations the relations between the non-governmental organizations also have positive impact on the development of these relations.

Administration Sergei Vinokurov spoke about the impact of the inter-parliamentary relations on the development of society. He said relations between the two countries were developing in the different fields and called Russia as a leading economic partner of Azerbaijan. Speaking about the humanitarian relations, Sergei Vinokurov reminded about the opening of Baku branch of the Moscow State University, Russian Culture and Information Center, humanitarian and inter-regional forums, education of 400 Azerbaijani students in Russia. He called the inter-parliamentary relations as a part of the strategic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan.

Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin also addressed the event. He said inter-parliamentary relations had special place in the Russia-Azerbaijan relations and added that the Russia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary group holds two meetings a year. The round table is continued.
