ISESCO to support “Justice for Khojaly” campaign

Islamic Conference Youth Forum told APA ISESCO and the Islamic Conference Youth Forum signed Additional Protocol to the Memorandum of Cooperation at the opening session. ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri and ICYF Secretary General Elshad Iskandarov on behalf of the Senior Coordinator of ICYF for Dialogue and Cooperation, initiator of the “Justice for Khojaly” campaign Leila Aliyeva signed the protocol. The document considers the support to the international informative-educational campaign “Justice for Khojaly” initiated by Leila Aliyeva, ICYFDC Senior Coordinator and to hold joint world events in the educational, scientific and cultural fields within the campaign. Iskandarov said the document described the plan of important events to be held in the Muslim and European countries. The sides coordinated concrete work to be done for including of information about Khojaly tragedy to the high school books in the OIC countries. According to the document, ISESCO undertook to include relevant information to the manuals in the OIC countries in 2009-2010. The document will be a roadmap for fulfillment of political resolutions adopted on the “Justice for Khojaly” campaign at the OIC education ministers’ conference last year and foreign ministers’ meeting in May, 2009.

The campaign “Justice for Khojaly” was declared on May 8, 2008 on the initiative of Senior Coordinator of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation Leila Aliyeva. The campaign aims to inform the international community about the Khojaly tragedy, to give international spiritual-political value to the tragedy and to commemorate it at the international level. The campaign was launched in 25 countries on February 26, 2009. Within the campaign on the initiative of the forum, for the first time the Khojaly tragedy was called as a “massacre” and a crime against humanity by the international organizations in the resolutions adopted at the OIC Summit and foreign ministers’ conference. The campaign is continuing on www.justiceforkhojaly.org.
