Reception on occasion of US Independence Day held in Baku

The ambassador said that July 4 is marked as Independence Day of the United States.
â€œOur nation was born with struggle. We are constantly refining our democracy. For the first time an African American was elected president. Today is a special day for me. This is my last day in Azerbaijan with you. I love this country, its rich history and culture,â€ she said.
Anne Derse said she believes that Azerbaijan will take its decent place in the region and continue its friendship with the United States.
Speaker of parliament Ogtay Asadov said the relations between Azerbaijan and the US were developing on the level of friendship and partnership. Speaker said the two countries signed about 55 documents. Asadov mentioned that the Unites States is the mediator in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and added that Azerbaijan highly appreciates United Statesâ€™ support for the countryâ€™s territorial integrity.
â€œWe believe that the US will increase the efforts towards the solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the framework of the norms of international law,â€ he said.
