Ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin: â€œRussia expresses principal political will to transfer the building of Azerbaijani embassy to the property of this countryâ€

Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin held a press conference on the results of Russian President Dmitriy Medvedevâ€™s visit to Azerbaijan on June 29 and gave information about the document signed during the visit, APA reports. He said the main result of the visit was that the two countries reached principal agreement on a number of issues important for both countries. â€œThese agreements provide continuation of the relations in the atmosphere of partnership and close neighborhood. Russia and Azerbaijan coordinated more than 90 percent of their borders. There are several uncoordinated issues only and the most complicated of them is the point on Samur River. The presidents issued joint statement on this issue to set parameters of compromises to find a decision acceptable for both sides. Azerbaijanâ€™s prompt and constructive position was a basis for that compromise. Azerbaijani proposals for joint use of water resources and water junction of Samur River led to the mutual understanding on this issue. We value it as a serious and important result of the visitâ€.

Answering the question about the signing of document between the foreign ministries of both countries about the diplomatic missions and services, the diplomat said the building of Azerbaijani embassy in Russia was transferred from the balance of Moscow Mayorâ€™s Office to the federal budget. â€œNow the Russian leadership has a principal political will to hand over this building to the Azerbaijanâ€™s property. According to the Russian legislation, the two countries have to sign relevant international agreement on that. The minister agreed to sign it by the end of the year. This agreement will describe the transfer of the Azerbaijani embassyâ€™s building in Russia to the Azerbaijanâ€™s property and the building of our embassy to the Russian property. We donâ€™t concern over this issue because our property right is regulated on the basis of Azerbaijani legislation and the international agreement will strengthen itâ€.
