SOCAR and Gazprom sign a gas deal

President Ilham Aliyev and President Dmitriy Medvedev signed joint statement on the Caspian Sea.The statement noticed the approaching of positions on the Convention on Caspian legal status. â€œThere is a mutual understanding on the number of aspects on elaborating Convention, which includes the delimitation of the Caspian water area, division of southern depth, security issues, exploration of the resources, transit, protection of biosphere, and etc.â€, said the statement.

The presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia attach great importance to the multilateral economic sphere of the Caspian cooperation and security cooperation as well, said the statement. â€œThe presidents emphasized the importance of cooperation in prevention of contemporary challenges and threats. The upcoming meeting of the security experts in Baku will make important contribution to the solution of these issuesâ€.

The presidents also signed joint statement on the delimitation of state borders and sharing of resources of Samur River between Azerbaijan and Russia.

The heads of states attended the signing of agreement on the main terms of SOCAR-Gazprom deal on purchase and sale of Azerbaijani natural gas.

Foreign ministers of both countries signed joint statement on the elaboration of intergovernmental agreement on the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan in Russia and Russia in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan and Kabardo-Balkar region of Russian Federation signed an agreement on cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, and culture.
