# 22 June 2009 08:33 (UTC +04:00)
Mammadyarov visited Istanbul on his way from Japan and had a dinner with Davutoglu in Beyti Restaurant in Florya. They discussed the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and situation in Iran.

Davutoglu told journalists they discussed the regional processes, negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, bilateral relations and other developments in the region. “Minister Mammadyarov finished his visit to Japan and joined us in Istanbul for several hours. We organized this meeting as we learned that he stayed in Istanbul on his way to Baku. I am welcoming him “at his home”. Later we will see off the minister for our second homeland Azerbaijan. Turkey and Azerbaijan are always conducting intensive consultations”.

Speaking about the Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian’s statement that “Armenia expects for new steps by Turkey to develop bilateral relations”, Davutoglu said the steps should be made mutually. “Our final goal is the achieving of permanent peace, welfare and stability in the Caucasus. It is impossible by the bilateral steps”.

Mammadyarov said the negotiations with Armenia were continued and stated that the invader troops should be withdrawn from the Azerbaijani lands.

Davutoglu said they also discussed the post-election events in Iran. “Turkish and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers do not leave any issue undiscussed while coming together. We discuss the issues not as the two parts, but as two friends. We review the regional developments in this context. Iran is very important country with rooted historic past and very important neighbor of us. The stability in Iran is important for whole region”.
