Summer session of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe starts today

Azerbaijani parliamentâ€™s press service told APA that head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov, members of the delegation Gultakin Hajibayli, Ganira Pashayeva, Sabir Hajiyev and Rafael Huseynov had left for Strasbourg to attend the session. Azerbaijan-related issue has not been included into the agenda of the session. The report of the PACE will be made, the situation in Belarus discussed and last year activity of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development reviewed in the summer session.
The state of human rights in Europe, the need to eradicate impunity, protecting the human rights of long-term displaced persons, history teaching in conflict and post-conflict areas will be debated, recommendations and resolutions adopted at the meetings.
A number of organizational issues will be solved during the session. PACE will also debate lobbying in a democratic society, renewable energies and the environment, nuclear energy and sustainable development and the funding of public service broadcasting.
Representatives of Azerbaijani parliament will take active part in the discussions.
