Scientific-practical conference on occasion of 90th anniversary of Azerbaijanâ€™s diplomatic service held in Moscow

Moscow. R. Metleboglu â€“ APA. Scientific-practical conference â€œAzerbaijan-Russia relations as a model of pragmatic cooperation in post-soviet areaâ€ was held in Moscow on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Azerbaijanâ€™s diplomatic service, APAâ€™s Moscow correspondent reports. Addressing the conference Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu said the 90th anniversary of diplomatic service is a relative notion.
â€œThough established in 1918 Azerbaijan Peopleâ€™s Republic was in hard condition, Azerbaijanâ€™s diplomatic service was established at that time. Foreign Ministry, Azerbaijani delegation carried out active diplomatic work with the international community, pursued diplomatic policy, participated in various conferences, including Paris Peace Conference. But as you know Azerbaijan Peopleâ€™s Republic existed for only 23 months. A formal body Foreign Ministry functioned in the Soviet Azerbaijan, after the independence was restored, Azerbaijani people decided to continue the traditions of Azerbaijan Peopleâ€™s Republic, the first democratic in the Near East,â€ he said.

Polad Bulbuloglu said under the decree of Azerbaijani President, Diplomatic Academy was established under the Foreign Ministry two years ago. Diplomat Day was instituted in the country. He said July 9 is marked as a professional holiday of diplomats, important meetings and events are held in Baku on this occasion.

Azerbaijani veteran diplomat famous publicist Ramiz Abutalibov gave detailed information about the history of Azerbaijani diplomacy. Director of post-soviet research center of Moscow State Institute of International Relations under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Stanislav Chernyayevsky said Azerbaijani leadership achieved successes in all directions of statehood life and underlined the activeness of contemporary diplomacy of Azerbaijan. He noted that Azerbaijani diplomacy successfully pursue balanced policy in its relations with all big players in the South Caucasus and Caspian region.

Professor of the Department of Political Sciences and International relations of the Western University of Azerbaijan Fikret Sadikhov, head of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Research Center of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alla Yazikova, executive editor of the â€œDiplomatiya Dunyasiâ€ (World of Diplomacy) publication of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, second secretary of the foreign policy planning and strategic research department of the ministry Huseyn Huseynov delivered speeches on the subject. Officials, public and political figures, political analysts, experts and representatives of the scientific society were invited to the conference organized at the embassy of Azerbaijan.
