President of Malta attends Azerbaijan Republican Day official reception

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. Azerbaijani embassy in Italy, at the same time in Malta and San-Marino, organized an official reception in Malta on the occasion of May 28 Republican Day. President of Malta, government officials and members of the parliament, business people, representatives of the research centers and local media, as well as foreign diplomats accredited in Malta attended the reception, the embassy told APA.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Malta Emil Karimov spoke about the history of first democratic republic in the Muslim East and said the country restored its independence 71 years later and was developing today with confidence.

The ambassador said there was large potential for the development of Azerbaijan-Malta relations and expressed confidence in further deepening of the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.

President of Malta George Abela addressed the ceremony and sent his best wishes to Azerbaijani people and leadership on this remarkable day. The president said Azerbaijan had very rich culture and ancient history and contributed great works to the world literature and art. He emphasized that Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Nizam Ganjavi’s pieces are the pearls of world cultural heritage.

The president said he hoped first celebration of Republican Day in Malta would contribute to further development of bilateral relations.

The guests watched a film about Azerbaijan and listened the Azerbaijani music. Azerbaijani national cooking, books and souvenirs were presented to the guests.
