Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Mr. Masood Ahmed, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the IMF, will visit Baku for the first time on November 15, 2012 in response to an invitation of the authorities.
The purpose of his visit is to meet with the leadership of the government and discuss prospects for the Azerbaijani economy, economic policy priorities, and how the IMF can best provide support to the government. Mr. Ahmed will hold a press conference at the end of his visit on November 15 at 5:30 pm at the Hilton Hotel (Ametist conference room).
An IMF mission led by Mr. Raja Almarzoqi, newly appointed mission chief for Azerbaijan, is currently in Baku updating the macroeconomic outlook and inquiring about policy plans in preparation for the next Article IV consultation tentatively scheduled for early 2013.
