According to him, measures have also been taken against smuggling and other law infringements in customs sphere.
So, the customs authorities revealed 9,206 law infringements as a result of complex measures taken to strengthen the customs control: “574 of these facts were criminal, relevant measures have been taken about 633 persons (553 Azerbaijanis, 80 foreigners) suspected of committing these acts”.
At the same time, 213 facts on illicit circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors were revealed in the reporting period. Totally, 91 kg of drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors have been withdrawn from the circulation. Measures have been taken about 250 persons suspected of illicit circulation of drugs, criminal groups committing these acts have been revealed in 30 cases.
In 2015, 349 legal entities and 8,291 individuals were brought to responsibility on facts of administrative offences against 8,632 customs rules, AZN 1,615,172 of fine was imposed on them, AZN 367,048 goods were confiscated.
Aliyev noted that as a result of control on border checkpoint according to law on Currency Regulation and other legislative acts, jewelries worth $863,412, €59,700, £ 4,000, Ö„ (RUB) 10,737,400, AZN 129,907 and 767.290 gr of silver worth AZN 1,312 have been seized from the persons violating laws.
Moreover, 93 electroshock weapons, 1 firearm, 63 cartridges, 1,827 ammunitions for shotguns, 4 gas weapons, 99 pneumatic weapons and 42,551 bullets for pneumatic weapon, 257 sidearms, 63,565 gram of explosive substances have been seized.
Aliyev underlined that SCC attaches importance to business-customs cooperation and holds meetings with businessmen in the customs authorities.
The SCC chairman also spoke about steps for facilitation of customs procedures.
According to him, SCC information kiosks will be set up in the ASAN Service centers.
Aliyev said that the procedures for individuals to declare their goods to customs agencies have been facilitated: “The new service will minimize citizen-official contact, increase transparency in customs services, and prevent time loss in border checkpoints. At the same time, list of goods which were banned in export and import operations and are restricted to be in circulation have been posted on the boards in the information kiosks”.
The SCC chairman stressed that customs clearance of import goods and transport vehicles has been renovated: “The entrepreneurs may already submit e-declaration for their goods and transport vehicles. According to this innovation, individuals and legal entities carrying out import and export operations may inform the customs officers by submitting short declaration about their goods and transport facilities”.
