Azerbaijan's retail trade turnover increased by nearly 4%

In January–August 2025, goods worth 40.4 billion manats were sold to consumers through the retail trade network which is 3.7% more compared to the same period of the previous year, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Statistical Committee.

"Of the total retail trade turnover, 22.2 billion manats accounted for food products, beverages, and tobacco products, while 18.2 billion manats accounted for non-food products. The turnover for food products, beverages, and tobacco increased by 1.3 percent, while the turnover for non-food products rose by 6.7 percent.

In January–August 2025, 50.7% of the money spent by consumers in the retail trade network was used for purchasing food products, 4.3% for beverages and tobacco products, 12.9% for textile products, clothing and footwear, 6.1% for motor gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.8% for electrical goods and furniture, 2.4% for pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, 1.3% for computers, telecommunication equipment and printed products, and 17.5% for other non-food products.

During the reporting period, the value of goods sold by business entities operating in the non-state sector increased by 3.8% in real terms compared to the same period of the previous year, accounting for 99.8% of the total retail trade turnover.

In January–August 2025, retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 8.0% in enterprises, 1.0% among individual entrepreneurs, and 3.9% in markets and fairs.

During the reporting period, each person spent an average of 493.6 manats per month in the retail trade network, including 271.4 manats on food products, beverages, and tobacco products, and 222.2 manats on non-food products.
