Samir Sharifov: State interest should be taken into account in the refund of the USSR-era lost savings

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA-Economics. A task force set up under Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan is anticipating proposals from the Government on the refund of the USSR-era bank savings of population, said Samir Sharifov, Minister of Finance.
He added that most of the CIS countries which decided to refund savings have been faced with the financial crisis.
â€œWe are observing analyzing trends in other countries. The state interests should be taken into account in this process,â€ he added.
The Soviet-era bank savings with the Savings Bank (present Kapital Bank) is estimated to be over AZN 600 million ($800 million) in current terms.
