Baku hosts meeting of the ECO Standing Working Group on Scientific Research

Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev â€“ APA-Economics. The meeting of the ECO Standing Working Group on Scientific Research has today kicked off in Baku.

The event was attended by representatives of the Member States, a number of state agencies and institutions of Azerbaijan, as well as international organizations.

Delivering keynote speech at the event Deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov spoke about the social and economic policy of the Republic and the achievements in this field. He stressed that Azerbaijan was successfully cooperating with a number of international organizations, including the ECO. He noted the importance of trade and investment climate in member countries, the expansion of ties between entrepreneurs and joint socio-economic studies.

Safarov said that in 2012-2015, Azerbaijan would chair the ECO: â€˜It will deepen the ties of our state with the other member countries of the organizationâ€™.

Director of ECOâ€™s Department for Economic Research, Statistics and Projects Bayan Adilbekova noted the role of this meeting in the further development of economic cooperation and the implementation of the member countries in joint projects.

Note that, on the second day of the event, Baku will host the meeting of the editorial board of Economics magazine of the ECO.
