Global prosperity index 2012 made public

Legatum Institute’s 2012 index that assesses the "wealth and well-being" of 142 countries through data in eight categories: economy; education; entrepreneurship and opportunity; governance; health; personal freedom; safety and security; and social capital.

Azerbaijani is placed at 89th place on economy, at 67th place on entrepreneurship, at 113th place on state governance, at 87th on education, at 89th on health, at 80th on security, at 117th on personal freedom and at 88th on social capital.

Scandinavian countries Norway, Denmark and Sweden take first, second and third on the index with Australia and New Zealand coming in fourth and fifth respectively. The US have dropped out of the top ten of the global prosperity rankings for the first time with the latest findings recording a weakening performance across five of the index’s eight sub-categories.

Note that, Georgia is placed at 93rd place in the list, Armenia – 98th, Russia – 66th, Kazakhstan – 46th, Iran – 102nd, Turkey – 89th.

Chad, Congo and Afghanistan ranked the lowest on that index.
