CIS countries determine candidate to post of IMF head

Baku â€“ APA-Economics. PMs of CIS countries have determined their candidate to the post of IMF head, said the Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov.

According to him, Kazakh National Bank Chairman Grigory Marchenko’s candidacy will be put forward to the post of IMF head.

Note that, The 51-year-old Marchenko has developed a solid reputation in the business community of Kazakhstan -- Central Asia’s largest economy and a favoured choice of Western investor.

He was educated in Moscow and Washington and also spent some time training in Germany before being appointed president of Deutsche Bank Securities in Kazakhstan for two years.

Marchenko is also seen is a powerful government insider who has worked as an adviser to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and was twice appointed to head the National Bank.

But the ex-Soviet states’ candidate seemed non-plussed when informed of his nominations.
