Azerbaijani-Latvian Commission meeting kicks off

Baku. Ali Ahmadov - APA-Economics. The IV session of Azerbaijani- Latvian intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation has opened in Riga.

Current state of economic relations between the two countries, cooperation within EU-Azerbaijan, especially Eastern Partnership and fulfillment of theses reflected in the Protocol of 3rd meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission will be discussed at the meeting to last on May 11-13.

Session will be held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov and Latvian Transport Minister Uldis Augulis.

It includes statements on the use of Latvian ports and transit potential for Azerbaijani goods export as well as the use of TRACECA and North- South transport corridors by Latvia. Latvia also offers to use capacity for modernization of carrying equipment and electrical and diesel passenger trains with the help of VRC Zasulauks and Rigasvagonbuvesrupnica enterprises.

Note that, one of main goals within framework State Program on development of railway system in Azerbaijan in 2010-2014 is the modernization of the existing railway park. This railway park was established by Rigasvagonbuvesrupnica.
