Home-currency deposits dwindle in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. As of April 1, personal deposits in banks dropped by 11.7% year-on-year to AZN 1 772.7 million, said the State Statistical Committee.

According to statistics, 37.3% of deposits were held in the national currency and 62.7% in foreign currencies.

National-currency deposits decreased by 22.9% while foreign-currency deposits soared by 52.4% over the past 12 months.

74% of deposits were held in private banks.
