Azerbaijan posts 31% growth in 1Q foreign trade

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s foreign trade with 108 nations during January-March totalled $3 804.4 million, including exports of $2 482.3 million and imports of $1 322.1 million, said the State Statistical Committee.

The trade surplus was $1 160.2 million for the first quarter.

Compared to the same month last year, foreign trade turnover increased by 31.3%, exports rose by 1.6 times and import dropped by 2.3%.

Azerbaijan carried out 45.6% of the trade, including 32.1% of imports and 52.8% of exports with the European Union.

Trade with the member states of GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development reached $257.5 million (imports $121.3 million and exports $136.2 million).

The country’s main trade partners included Italy (20.7%), France (10.1%), the United States (8.7%), Russia (4.9%), Germany (4.9%), Israel (4.9%), Turkey (4.6%), Canada (3.5%), Georgia (3.5%), Ukraine (3.3%), South Korea (3%), the United Kingdom (2.8%), Indonesia (2.3%) and other countries 19.5%.
