Azerbaijan attends 12th Microfinance Conference

Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev â€“ APA-Economics. 15 representatives from 10 Azerbaijan-based financial institutions have joined the 12th MFC Conference of Microfinance Institutions - Global Crisis: Threat or Opportunity for Microfinance? in Belgrade, Serbia from May 25-27, 2009, said Jala Hajiyeva, CEO of Azerbaijan Microfinance Association.

According to her, among the participants are microfinance practitioners, bankers, researchers/experts, donors, investors, local government representatives, USAID and European Commission representatives, policy makers, central bankers, global banks, private sector, and media representatives.

The 12th annual MFC Regional Conference aims to improve understanding of the current economic crisis and developments in financial markets and their impact on financial institutions that serve the poor. The conference will also discuss client protection issues and strategies and measures that will allow MFIs to weather the economic storms and respond to new internal and external challenges.
