Azerbaijan’s per capita foreign debt stands at $232.5

The amount of foreign credits attracted to Azerbaijan’s economy reached US $1.972 billion, the foreign debt to gross domestic product (GDP) ratio was 9.9 percent.
Per capita foreign debt stood at $232.5, Finance Ministry told the APA.
$394.1mln (20%) of the credits were received for economic reforms (World Bank $255.6m (13.1%), IMF $135mln (6.8%)).
Loans received for investment projects amounted to $1.5779 (80%), of which $738.1mln (37.4%) for electricity production sector, $141.1mln (7.1%) for rural development and melioration, $317.7mln (16.1%) for roads and infrastructure, $34.6mln (1.8%) for chemical industry, $26.7mln (1.4%) for oil and gas sector, $39.7mln (2%) for rehabilitation of the lands liberated from Armenia’s occupation, $157.8mln (8%) for social sphere and $122.4mln (6.2%) for other fields.
$350.3mln was spent during over the period of 2006. .
$136.3mln was used for foreign debt service payment ($97.2mln for capital repayment and AZN $39.1mln for interest repayment), as well as $26.3mln was allocated from the state budget and $37.2mln was earmarked to service capital debt owed to the International Monetary Fund. /APA/
