Baku-APA. Representatives from the P5+1 countries held talks in Vienna Friday over the final stages of the nuclear negotiations with Iran ahead of the Nov. 24 deadline to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear program, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Representatives for Iran were not present at the discussions to work out the negotiation schedule.

Next on the agenda are trilateral talks in Muscat, Oman beginning on Sunday and involving Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

The meeting was arranged to clear final hurdles ahead of a major round of talks planned again in Vienna on Nov. 18.

Michael Mann, spokesperson for former EU foreign policy chief and special representative for the Iran talks, Catherine Ashton, said the main objective of the negotiations is to reach a deal that ensures the Iranian nuclear program is of a solely peaceful nature, and without a military aspect.

Iran, for its part, is primarily seeking the lifting of damaging economic sanctions.

In an interview with Austrian media Friday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the talks in Oman are the key to achieving an overall resolution. He also expressed his optimism that successful negotiations were possible, saying it was simply a matter of will on behalf of the negotiating parties.
