NCGA says concerned about anti-Azerbaijani and anti-Turkish reports in Georgian media

The National Congress of Georgian Azerbaijanis (NCGA) is concerned about anti-Azerbaijani and anti-Turkish reports recently circulated in Georgian media, NCGA Chairman Ali Babayev told a press conference in Tbilisi on Friday, APA’s correspondent reported from Tbilisi.

Such reports do not correspond to reality, Babayev noted.

According to the NCGA chairman, some online and printed media outlets release accurate information on the alleged violation of religious rights of Georgians living in Azerbaijan.

“Some online media outlets distribute unverified information and mislead Georgian society. We are protesting against this misinformation and we urge Georgian media to be precise and objective,” he added.

Babayev also protested one of the leaders of the opposition Alliance of Patriots, Vice Speaker Irma Inashvili's recent statements against Turkey.

“Such statements serve the interests of those who want to harm Georgia's friendly relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan. Georgia develops relations in all areas with Azerbaijan and Turkey and has friendly neighborly relations with them,” he noted.

"Why only Russia, Turkey and Iran are not threats? 33% of Georgian territory is occupied by Turkey. Turkey is implementing extremely dangerous policy in the Adjara region. Both are occupiers- Turkey and Russia," said Irma Inashvili.
