Baku – APA. Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland said on Monday that the air strikes on Syria’s Aleppo as a big failure on the part of the United Nations Security Council.
Speaking in a question and answer session during the Assembly’s autumn part-session, Mr Jagland described the ariel bombardment of the Syrian city of Aleppo as an absolute catastrophe that was hard to imagine could take place in the 21st century.
He said it represented a big failure on the part of the United Nations Security Council, and called for renewed diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire followed by a broader political solution.
