Iran nuclear deal represents breakthrough, says EC President Tusk

Baku-APA. European Council President Donald Tusk on Tuesday said in a statement that the latest agreement on Iran's nuclear program represents a breakthrough, bringing to an end a 13-year nuclear standoff, APA reports quoting AP.

"If fully implemented, the agreement could be a turning point in relations between Iran and the international community, paving he way to new avenues of cooperation between the EU and Iran. Geopolitically, it has the potential to be a game changer," said Tusk.

He said all the parties who worked so hard to achieve this agreement deserve congratulations.

"The text of the agreement is precise; we must now join forces to see it through, taking into account regional sensitivities," Tusk said.

The comprehensive agreement was struck earlier Tuesday between Iran and Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States after over two weeks of tough talks in Vienna.

The text of the deal specifies key areas of the Iranian nuclear issue, including sanction relief and action plans.
