Baku-APA. French President Francois Hollande will have one-on-one talks with his American counterpart Barack Obama and Russian head of state Vladimir Putin in a fresh diplomatic attempt to ensure security in Ukraine and promote stability in eastern Europe, it was announced Thursday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
According to the French presidency office, Hollande is scheduled to dine separately with Obama and Putin on Thursday after tensions over Kiev crisis strained ties between Washington and Moscow.
"France is welcoming the world on June 5 and 6 so it gives us a specific responsibility. What's at stake is Ukraine, its stability and its security," Hollande said after the G7 meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.
In an interview with local broadcaster Europe 1 and private television channel TF1, Putin said he was ready for dialogue with Obama on the sidelines of 70th anniversary commemorations of the allied D-Day landings in World War Two, taking place in Normandy, northern France.
"It is his decision. I'm always ready for dialogue," he said, adding that he hoped the current situation does not develop "into a new stage of the Cold War."
