Gang leader, extradited from Azerbaijan, detained in Turkey

Baku – APA. One of the leaders of a criminal gang, who has been wanted for 10 years, has been detained in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

Mehmet Sena Soylemez, one of the leaders of the Soylemez Brothers gang, was detained in Sincan district with the forged documents of Turkey’s National Intelligence Agency (MIT) on him.

The criminal gang headed by medical officer Mehmet Sena Soylemez and reserve serviceman Faysal Soylemez is accused of a number of unresolved crimes committed since 1996.

The Soylemez brothers fled to Iraq in 2004. They faced charges of extorting money from businessmen. They were detained in Iraq, but released. Then, the brothers who were wanted by Interpol were detained in Azerbaijan and extradited to Turkey. However, they were mysteriously released in Turkey and after a while they were again declared wanted.

The search for Faysal Soylemez is still underway.
