Baku-APA. Ukraine should maintain the territorial integrity, said Catherine Ashton, European Union foreign policy chief, at the end of her visit to Ukraine on Tuesday, APA reports quoting XInhua.
"It's very important to send a strong message about the territorial integrity and the unity and the independence of Ukraine," said Ashton, adding that "everyone I've spoken to here recognize the importance of this country sticking together."
Last Saturday, the Ukrainian parliament passed a resolution to dismiss President Viktor Yanukovych from his post and set an early election for May 25, declaring him constitutionally unable to carry out his duties.
Ukraine's Interior Ministry issued an arrest warrant for Yanukovych and his close allies over the violence during the three-month anti-government protests, which left at least dozens of people dead.
