Baku-APA. Bulgarian National Assembly on Friday approved a coalition government led by GERB party chairman Boyko Borissov, almost five weeks after the country's urgent parliamentary elections, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Borissov, who was Prime Minister from 2009 to 2013, gathered the support of 136 legislators from his party, the Reformers Bloc, the Patriotic Front and ABV coalition, in the 240-member parliament. The MPs from Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), Bulgarian Democratic Center and Ataka party voted against.

Presenting his cabinet at the plenary hall, Borissov called it a "pro-European reformist government," which would lay the foundations and work to ensure the sustainable development of Bulgaria.

"Our employer -- the Bulgarian citizens, our partner -- the Bulgarian business and foreign investors, have the right to see a sustainable and long-term perspective on their future," Borissov said.

Government has set goals such as stabilizing the institutions, helping vulnerable groups and unemployed people, and ensuring national energy independence.

Mihail Mikov, BSP leader and Chairman of the parliamentary group of Leftist Bulgaria, said his group would act as a constructive and sharp authentic left opposition.

The previous GERB party cabinet resigned last February amid national protests against high bills for electricity and heating.

Between two caretaker cabinets and two early elections, it was replaced by a BSP government led by Plamen Oresharski.

In power for just over a year, Oresharski resigned on July 23, after its coalition partner MRF demanded snap elections.
