Baku-APA. A number of flights from British airports to France have been cancelled, affecting thousands of passengers following a strike launched by air traffic controllers in France on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"As a result of industrial action by air traffic controllers in France, we are expecting disruption to some of our services between Tuesday and Sunday," said British Airways (BA).

The company said the level of disruption is likely to fluctuate in different parts of France at different parts during the six-day strike, caused due to budget cuts, adding the industrial action will very likely lead to delays and cancellations on other short-haul services which fly over France.

It has advised passengers to keep checking the latest information about their fights before departure.

Several major airlines in Europe have been affected by the walkout, including BA, Ryanair, Easyjet, and British low-cost reginal airline group Flybe.

A total of 28 EasyJet flights to and from France have also been cancelled, according to local reports.

"EasyJet is disappointed at this unnecessary strike action which has the potential to cause considerable disruption and cancellations for passengers and airlines across Europe," a company spokesperson said.
