Albanian gov't approves decentralized management of EU funds

Baku-APA. The Council of Ministers of Albania on Wednesday approved decentralized management of European Union (EU) funds in Albania, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

In a cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Sali Berisha said the "very important" decision made Albania the first country in the Balkan region to conduct procurement of EU funds.

"Relevant responsible bodies and units, with the largest at the Ministry of Finance, have been established for the decentralized management of the EU funds," Berisha said.

He added a 6000-page document was presented to the European Commission to certify and accredit the relevant management bodies.
