Baku. Zumrud Pashayeva – APA. The Palestinian issue is the biggest problem in the Middle East, said former Turkish President Abdullah Gul, APA reports quoting Anadolu agency.

He noted that it will be difficult to solve other issues unless the Palestinian issue is solved.

Praising some European countries’ recognizing Palestine as a state, the former Turkish President Abdullah Gul complained on failing to pay attention to the decision taken by the UN Security Council in 1991 on removal of weapons of mass destruction from the region.

“Though President Obama once had a meeting on the issue, unfortunately, this was the last step”, he added.

As for the situation in Syria and Iraq, Gul said Turkey is affected by the problems of the neighboring states.

“At a distance, well-wishers give some advices. However, we are in trouble. On one hand 2 million refugees and on the other hand the issue of security. These are big problems”, he said.
