Earlier this week, the U.S. administration approved the sale of 3,300 ERAM (Extended Range Attack Munition) air-launched missiles to Kiev. They will arrive in Ukraine within six weeks, APA reports citing The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to their information, the total amount of the military aid package was $850 million. A significant part of this amount was allocated by European countries. The newspaper does not specify what else is included in the tranche, except for ERAM missiles, but notes that the American administration postponed its approval until the meetings of US President Donald Trump with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The missiles have a range of 150-280 miles (240-450 km), The Wall Street Journal reports, meaning Ukraine would likely need to seek Pentagon approval to use them in combat.
