The majority of French residents feel angry and ashamed about the political crisis engulfing their country, with a third favoring the early resignation of French President Emmanuel Macron, APA reports citing Le Figaro newspaper.
Between October 14 and 16, after the opposition had failed to force the government to resign and secure enough votes for the no-confidence motions they had put forward in the National Assembly (the lower house of parliament), 1,000 people took part in the survey.
When asked about their emotions regarding the current situation in the country, respondents cited despair (39%), fatigue (35%), sadness (21%), and fear (18%). The newspaper notes that for the first time in a year, shame (53%) outweighed anger (49%) among citizens tired of political instability. Another 9% said they were indifferent to the situation, while 5% still retained hope for improvement. Positive emotions such as joy, pride, anticipation, and satisfaction were experienced by only 1% of respondents.
