Sweden will participate with a reduced battalion to NATO's multinational force in Latvia, Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson said at the Society and Defense National Conference in Sälen on Monday, APA reports citing Teller Report.

He also said that the government is investing an additional SEK 27 billion in military defence this year. According to information received by Dagens Nyheter, it is a battalion of 800 soldiers from the South Skåne Regiment P 7 in Revinge outside Lund.

"We will contribute to NATO's defence and deterrence. Last year, I announced that Sweden – in addition to NATO's Baltic Air Policing and cooperation for a European air defence – is also ready to contribute ground combat units to the defence of the Baltic States" he added.
