Two F-35 fighter jets of the Netherlands Air Force intercepted a group of three Russian military aircraft in the skies over Poland. On Tuesday, February 14, APA reports citing Reuters.
“Unknown aircraft approached the Polish NATO area of responsibility from Kaliningrad, Russia,” the Dutch Defense Ministry said in a statement.
It is reported that two Su-27 attack aircraft and an Il-20M electronic reconnaissance aircraft entered the airspace of Poland. They were intercepted by two F-35s belonging to the Netherlands. They escorted Russian planes until they left Polish airspace.
The Dutch Ministry of Defense said eight Dutch F-35s are temporarily based in Poland.
Earlier, it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down Prigozhin’s plane.
Polish President Andrzej Duda said he doubted the possibility of supplying Poland with modern F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
