French President Emmanuel Macron has accepted resignation of French Prime Minister Michel Barnier, Élysée Palace released statement, APA reports.
It should be noted that the previous day, the French National Assembly (lower house of parliament) voted in favor of a resolution of no-confidence in the Michel Barnier's government .
The resolution of no-confidence in the Cabinet of Ministers was supported by 331 MPs.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, stated that in accordance with the French Constitution, Michel Barnier would have to submit his resignation to the president. The no-confidence vote required at least 289 votes out of 577 MPs.
It should be noted that this is the first such case since 1962.
