Moscow sees a possible seizure of its assets by the European Union as a trade war, and the response to it will be very harsh, said Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a briefing held today, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

According to her, Moscow's position regarding the possible confiscation of illegally blocked Russian assets in a number of Western jurisdictions remains unchanged: "We consider such actions not only as ordinary theft, but also as a trade war in the literal sense, an increase in the economic aggression of the West against our country. An attempt to confiscate any funds belonging to our country, the legality of which no one doubts and cannot question, would be a gross violation of international law, by the way, the internal legislation of these countries and, of course, all bilateral documents and obligations. The only thing keeping them from the final step is the results. They see that we are responding, it discourages them, to put it mildly, and they understand that the response will be extremely harsh".
