A number of unconventional options are being discussed to accelerate the peace negotiations process, and one of these options is for a Ukrainian delegation to travel to Moscow and hold talks with Vladimir Putin, APA reports, citing Times of Ukraine
The report states that the US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader’s son-in-law Jared Kushner could guarantee the security of the Ukrainian delegation: “The reason is that although Russia’s negotiating group is currently more constructive compared to last year, it still has no real influence in Russia and lacks the authority to make the relevant decisions. For this reason, the negotiations are effectively ‘standing still.’”
It is noted that there is no sense in repeatedly traveling to the Emirates or the United States for talks, and that meetings should be held where decisions will actually be made: “Witkoff and Kushner propose to act as ‘security guarantors.’ Among the proposed options is that the plane of the American mediators would pick up the Ukrainian delegation from Warsaw and take them directly to Moscow for talks with Putin. However, in this case, the participation of Kyrylo Budanov, who was ‘arrested in absentia’ by Russia in 2023 on fabricated charges, would remain in question.”
