The restoration of the Alican border crossing on the Türkiye–Armenia border is nearing completion, APA reports, citing the Yeşil Iğdır newspaper.

According to the report, Fırat Taşolar, the governor of Iğdır, visited the Alican border crossing—closed since 1993—to inspect the ongoing reconstruction and renovation works, which are now close to being finalized.

Accompanied by technical staff, the governor inspected buildings along the border and the crossing routes, emphasizing that the works would be completed in the near future.

The newspaper noted that the opening of the Alican border crossing is significant not only diplomatically but also economically for the region. It is expected to boost trade activity in Iğdır and surrounding provinces, revitalize the local economy, improve logistics efficiency by shortening transport routes via the Caucasus, and encourage mutual travel and regional tourism between Türkiye and Armenia.
