Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has put forward a plan offering security guarantees to the Kyiv authorities as a path toward a peaceful resolution, APA reports citing Bloomberg.
The proposal does not envisage the deployment of Western allied troops in Kyiv.
The agency notes that the Italian Prime Minister’s proposal also involves Ukraine abandoning its attempts to join NATO.
At the same time, the plan suggests a mechanism through which alliance member states could conclude agreements with Kyiv.
Under the proposal, if Ukraine were attacked, military support would be provided to Kyiv within 24 hours.
It is noted that Italy’s plan is one of several proposals currently being considered by NATO countries.
