"The importance of the South Caucasus is increasing both regionally and globally, opening up new opportunities for Georgia," Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili said during her speech at the Concordia Summit held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, APA's local bureau reports.
She stated that developments in the region are also important for the United States.
"The political steps taken by the United States clearly demonstrate that Georgia has always been a reliable partner. We have a very close partnership with the United States, and we are proud of it," the minister added.
According to the Foreign Minister, Georgia has always played an important role in promoting regional peace and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
"In the current geopolitical environment, Georgia is beginning to play an important geopolitical role, which, in turn, makes it necessary to develop various partnerships. However, this does not mean that we have abandoned our aspiration to become a member of the European Union. Although this is a difficult period for our region, we are proud that we have managed to maintain security and stability within Georgia," Maka Bochorishvili noted.
