"In the Donetsk region, Russian forces struck a private house in the settlement of Cherkaske with a Smerch multiple rocket launcher system, killing three people, including a 13-year-old girl. Four others were injured," Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, said in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Three people were killed and four injured in the strike on Cherkaske. Among the dead was a 13-year-old girl. A projectile hit a private house. A single strike destroyed an entire family's lives," the regional governor wrote.
He noted that Russian forces shelled the settlement of Cherkaske using a Smerch multiple rocket launcher system equipped with cluster munitions.
"The Russians know perfectly well where and what they are striking. Using cluster munitions against residential areas is a deliberate attempt to inflict as many civilian casualties as possible," Filashkin stressed.
He once again urged parents not to put their children's lives at risk and to evacuate.
As previously reported, on October 12, Russian forces launched three Smerch multiple rocket launcher strikes against a residential area of Sloviansk, injuring a 77-year-old woman.
