“As soon as various institutions of the European Union stop supporting radicalism in Georgia, the path to restoring relations will immediately open,” Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told journalists, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to him, Brussels’ promotion of radicalism remains an obstacle to relations today.
“Radicalism is promoted and financed through various European Union funds, as well as through political statements. It is precisely radicalism that currently acts as an obstacle between Georgia and the European Union,” Shalva Papuashvili added.
The Speaker also noted that the European Union should reconsider its June 2024 decision to unilaterally suspend Georgia’s integration process. He described the decision as unjustified and unfair, saying that the time had come for it to be reconsidered.
