Yvette Cooper has told Sir Keir Starmer he must stand down, APA reports citing Sky News.
The foreign secretary - one of Starmer's most senior ministers - is understood to have delivered the message to the PM privately over the weekend.
Starmer is currently away from Downing Street, staying at the prime minister's countryside residence, Chequers, with his wife and children.
A short while ago, Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle told Sky News he had not spoken to Starmer since Friday - but at that time, he said they had a "frank conversation" about the challenges the PM is facing.
