The European Union will pay Slovakia €105 million in compensation through the European Peace Facility for military equipment donated to Ukraine, APA reports.
Robert Bestro, Director General of the Defence Policy Department at Slovakia’s Ministry of Defence, announced the decision.
“We have secured another €105 million for Slovakia from the European Peace Facility. These funds are now a reality. The decision was taken this week,” he said.
Bestro noted that the funding would be in addition to compensation Slovakia had previously received.
Slovakia’s previous government supplied Ukraine with military equipment from 2022, including MiG-29 fighter jets and an S-300 air defense system.
The current Slovak government has ended the practice of donating weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. However, Slovak companies are permitted to supply weapons to Ukraine on a commercial basis.
